WHO WE ARE

Max has spent 15 winters in Japan and now lives year-round in Hokkaido. He operates Otaru Powder Guides, a backcountry powder guiding company based in Otaru. In winter, he leads tours into the mountains around Hokkaido. In the warmer months, he offers sea kayak tours and guided hikes along the coast and nearby peaks. His approach is simple and low-key—small groups, relaxed pace, and a focus on enjoying the natural beauty of the area, whether it's deep powder, quiet trails, or calm water.
