What to Wear and Bring for Sea Kayaking
Clothing:
The Sea of Japan is warm from June to September, with peak temperatures around 23°C.
Our kayaks are very stable, so you’ll likely stay dry unless you choose to swim.
A swimsuit is optional but handy, along with a towel and a change of clothes.
Wear lightweight, quick-drying clothing—long sleeves and a hat are best for sun protection.
Footwear that can get wet (water shoes, sandals with a strap, or old sneakers) is recommended.
Avoid jeans or heavy cotton.
Other Essentials:
Sunscreen (we can provide if needed)
Drinking water or refreshments (you can bring them on the kayak)
Waterproof case if you’d like to bring your phone or camera
Personal medication if required
Facilities:
We provide a small pump shower to rinse hands and feet after the tour
A private changing tent is available
Public toilet on the beach (we recommend using nearby convenience store facilities beforehand)

Sunny Side Up Guiding Policy
Paramount for Sunny Side Up is the safety and well being of our guests. Our extensive experience in the ocean and mountains gives us a profound respect for nature, and we may be forced to alter our plans if we encounter adverse conditions that may put our guests at undue risk. Your safety is our top priority. If we deem the conditions to be too dangerous then the tour will be cancelled. If we deem that it is too risky to proceed to Blue Cave then we may have to alter the tour route. The decision rests with the guide and his/her decision is final.
